Feedback from a very successful 160th Royal Agriculture Show 2011.

Our main objective was to promote and make the general public aware of the alpaca breed in the RSA. This we certainly achieved, mostly due to the input from the SAAB Society and those who helped to produce a very professional document. We reproduced & distributed approximately 600 pamphlets to those who showed an interest & to the teachers of the many schools who visited our stand with their pupils.
Peter John Garbutt provided us with an alpaca banner, knitwear & photo's of his mini mill which we displayed.

WAKKERSTROOM NATURAL FIBRE HANDCRAFT FAIR 28 MAY 2011

Feedback from Romney & Fenella van Ryneveld, breeders living in Wakkerstroom.

Oh my goodness was it was cold on the morning of the 28th May for the Annual Wakkerstroom natural fibre handcraft Fair ! But by opening time nobody cared because inside the hall it was just buzzing with activity, buying, friendly chat and lots of networking, demonstrating and laughter. The atmosphere and the colour was amazing - it was like a great big party!

Female Farmer/Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2010

Alison Notley was, on Friday 6 August 2010, presented with the top award for the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Smallholder (livestock) section. She will now go on to compete in the national championships to be held in Port Elizabeth later this month.

This follows in the footsteps of Jan Jamieson who I believe won this prestigious award in 2006. A timely boost for the alpaca industry after the World cup has diverted people’s attention from everyday events.
